Ouch, Another week ! Feels like time's passing by.... Thing is, I still didnt take pictures of my University and where i work, i'll probably do that next week. But because I owe you some news, i figured out i could post these pictures taken from the 東京タワー (Tokyo Tower). Last tuesday, i was going to school as usual (monday was a holiday remember) and when i reached the station where i switch trains, i heard that my train wasn't working since 9h30 (yes, i go to school a bit late ) and the staff had no idea when it would be working again (yes again, i understand a bit of japanese, enough to understand that my train isn't working and that i can have a day off
). So i had my day off and i decided to do something of it. I searched the easiest thing to visit and my choice stopped on the 東京タワー !

So, after almost 40 minutes traveling trough 2 different trains (no need to say that i was pretty lonely as a tourist in the trains for a tuesday) i got there ! Well, i had to walk a bit from the metro station. But first impression about the place .... soooo not touristic, soooo not beautiful. I mean, i didnt expect the neighbourhood to be like around the eiffel tower but I exepected something.... different ! The tower is standing on a small peace of ground, like a bloc or any building, between cheap contructions... Really not a nice first impression !!!!
About the tower itself see Wikipedia (no, i'm not paid by them, they're just the most important and reliable source of information on our world wide web !!). The only thing i'm sure you want to know is its height: 333 meters. When visiting you have the choice between two observatories, one at 150 meters and one at 250. I thought the first one would be enough so i just took a ticket to go up 150 meters ! I thought it would be as beautiful as from the Empire State Building in NY but it... isn't !! Tokyo doesn't seem as impressive as Manhattan when it comes for financial buildings, or maybe i'm just being bored but still, you can judge by the pictures compared to these ones. Or maybe it's sooo much beautiful a hundred meters higher ! Who knows !
My favorite picture on the right, we can see the レインボーブリッジ (Reinbo Bridge) crossing the Tokyo Bay. So, after all, even if it wasn't that amazing, it's still impressive to see the city expanding so far away, and being able to recognize the cities inside tokyo is amusing. By the way, did you know that the city of 東京 (Tokyo) doesn't exists ? Yes, i was surprised too, but it's not a poor joke, it's real. Tokyo isn't a city, it's a region, kind of a state inside Japan. And so is Chiba ! What makes Tokyo so well known is the concentration of busy cities such as 新宿 (Shinjuku) or 六本木 (Roppongi). I easily see why all foreigners do this mistake, like i did ! I guess we could see those cities like the 20 arrondissements in Paris, but a little bit more independantly.
Those pictures are just what i saw on the wa back home, a buddhist temple. The inside was really amazing, i tried to take pictures but whithout flash it's hard if you don't have a camera's tripod or something. I did what i can, maximizing the lenght of the pause... But unfortunatly the support on which my camera was standing, wasn't very stable ! I realize that, the more i take pictures, the more i would love to have a digital reflex camera.... sweet dream ....

I didn't talk much about my studies yet, simply because i've been doing almost nothing for a month. And believe me, it's an art to look busy when you're not, art i can say i handle quite well !!! Anyway, i was given some work to do but was extremely disappointed to find out that this was a very boring, repetitive work, not giving a single chance to learn anything. I then decided to go to war and try to get a decent subject for a project by any possible way
! Not some highschool level shitty job !
I've been heard, i had a meeting to discuss my willings but unfortunatly, the proposed subjects were exactly the same, in a different field (i.e. not physics anymore but mathematics...). <geek>This job was to code animations in Java applet or flash of physical/mathematical phenomenon (like the propagation of sound in an aquatic environment), totally worthless</geek>. This work is a part of my laboratory's main research field : e-learning. Again : no way .
So i tried to talk again, to express what i expected and everything. It turned out that i had to propose a project, from what i know about their research. Very weird cause i don't know much ! Now i'm working on doing a specification book on what i think is going to be my final project. I'll then submit it to them and see what they think about it ! Ouf ! What a mess to find a project which should have been discussed before i even got here
!! Now i hope everything will turn alright, i'll keep you posted about it.
